This infographic shows the top 10 features which sets Joomla 1.6 apart from the current 1.5 version.
The infographic was originally created in English, and with the help of some Spanish speaking friends it's now available in Spanish as well. Thanks a lot to Anneliese Woodberry and Adrian Prado for the translation, as well as www.webempresa.com for the translation of Joomla 1.6 into Spanish. Enjoy!

Joomla news
Yesterday, the Joomla project announced the immediate availability of Joomla 1.6 beta 9 (download).
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a beta version and is not intended to run any type of production site. It is intended to be used for evaluation purposes only.
Since the Joomla 1.6 beta 8 release on August 23, we have fixed approximately 69 issues in the tracker. This progress is directly related to the continued efforts of the Joomla! Bug Squad. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing us one increment closer to stable!

As you know, it's the birthday of Joomla today!
At the J & Beyond 2010 conference in Wiesbaden earlier this year, some people coined the phrase "Joomla Rocks!". This stuck with during the conference, and the sound of "Joomla Rocks" could be heard throughout the Joomla universe for weeks and months.
Now, a group of Joomla Community members have gathered and taken the "Joomla rocks" phenomenon a step further. In the spirit of gratitude rocks, the concept of physical Joomla rocks is introduced on the brand new site ourcmsrocks.com.

Joomla evangelism
As you know, all 5-year olds love gifts (and cake) - I know mine did :) So, I made a birthday gift to the Joomla Community. It's an infographic showing the history of Joomla since it's inception in 2005 until today.
The graphic also shows key figures for the project as of today.
I hope you enjoy the infographic and share with everyone you know :)
Thanks to Steve Burge, Brian Teeman and Peter van Westen for help with this project.

Joomla news
Here are some interesting Joomla blog posts I found during week 33.
Not too much this week, but I found a piece on the upcoming new version of joomla.org (which created quite a discussion), as well as a post on JoomlaDay DC (don't forget the early-bird pricing, which is soon to expire) and a post about a Linux/Joomla event in Vellore, India.
Have a great week!

Joomla Extension News
As you might know, Joomla will celebrate it's fifth anniversary this week.
Joomla! was the result of a fork of Mambo by the Joomla! development team on August 17, 2005. On Sept 1st 2005, the new project was officially named "Joomla". The name is the English spelling of the Swahili word jumla meaning "all together" or "as a whole."
This marked the beginning of a great open source software package that you, me, and millions of other website owners use and enjoy every day.
Just a day later, on Sept 2nd, the template and extension provider Joomlashack was founded. Like Joomla, JoomlaShack has gone through some big changes since then. New team, new Premium Joomla Templates, launching Joomlashack University and releasing new Joomla Extensions, too! To celebrate the anniversary, JoomlaShack has decided to do an anniversary Sale: 25% OFF EVERYTHING Until Sept 2nd.
