Joomla 1.6 Alpha is now only hours away from being released to the Community, according to Brian Teeman.
It's very important to note that this is an Alpha release - and is far from ready to be installed on a live site.
However, this is an important step in getting the community to test out the next big version of Joomla.
This will provide valuable feedback to the developers.

For my own sake, the single most important feature of Joomla 1.6 is the ACL. This will give me more control over who can edit what content.
