The problem was that when SuperBlogger was activated, the Joomla site went into a infinite redirect loop. This is due to a bug in sh404SEF, located in the inclusion of an external file. The recommendation from JoomlaWorks is to upgrade to the latest version of SuperBlogger, and apply this fix for sh404SEF. Apparently, Siliana is working on a new version of sh404SEF which will solve the problem.
I must say the commitment and support of JoomlaWorks has been outstanding in getting this problem solved. Although it was a user at their forum who eventually found the problem, JoomlaWorks have really gone out on limb to find a solution. I'm looking forward to test and implement SuperBlogger on this site.
