Joomla 1.6 beta 8Yesterday, the Joomla project announced the immediate availability of Joomla 1.6 beta 8 (download).

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a beta version and is not intended to run any type of production site. It is intended to be used for evaluation purposes only.

Since the Joomla 1.6 beta 7 release on August 9, the Joomla Bug Squad have fixed approximately 90 issues in the tracker. This progress is directly related to the continued efforts of the Joomla! Bug Squad. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing us one increment closer to stable!

See the CHANGELOG below included in the download for details of what has been changed in this release.

joomla-week-31

Here are some interesting Joomla blog posts I found during week 31.

joomla-week-30

Here are some interesting Joomla blog posts I found during week 30.

Jen Kramer has written a great post on the Access Control Leves in Joomla 1.6, there's a post about the Community Workgroup and a new template release: The Eco friendly Joomla template from JoomlaBamboo.

Enjoy!

Kris leaning against a tree ;)In February of 2010 I went back to working full time with my own business. It was a relief, and something I had thought about for a long time.

I started my business in 2001. At that time, my company evolved around creating web sites for smaller companies. This is my story.

This week, I have the pleasure of introducing Marco Barbosa. Marco is a Brazilian working and living in Sweden, with a glowing passion for Joomla.

He's known to some of you as the guy behind Minima, the exciting new admin template for Joomla 1.6, as well as an active contributor in the Joomla UX group at people.joomla.org.

joomla-week-29Here are some interesting Joomla blog posts I found during week 29.

This week, we have a techie tutorial by Torkil Johnsen, the first post in the 5x5 series of blog posts on community.joomla.org, the top 10 Joomla extensions as chosen by Brian Teeman and some info on the Joomla! Student Outreach Program, to mention some.

Enjoy the read!

There are a lot of posts on this blog now, and many of them are hidden in the depths of the archives.

In this post, I'll highlight seven posts from this blog (and some others) that you might have missed.

This week, you'll meet Hilary "Hils" Cheyne. She's a British web developer and an instructor of online Joomla! Fast Track Training Course at LVS Associates.

She's also involved in the Alltogetherasawhole.org site, as well as an active contributor to the recently launched Joomla Community Magazine.

Join me as we get to know Hils a little better.

The Official Joomla Community site was launched earlier this year. Yesterday, the site reached 4000 members.

In this post, you'll meet Mary May from Brazil - she's member no. 4000.

joomla-week-28Here are some interesting Joomla blog posts I found during week 28.

There's a post on how to deploy large-scale websites, an post on an advantage Joomla has over WordPress (just one of many, IMO), as well as a commentary by Jeremy Wilken on the GPL feud going on in WordPress land. I'm happy those times are over for Joomla! ;)

Enjoy your week!

This week you'll get to know Anthony Olsen from Melbourne, Australia.

Anthony is an active Joomla developer and designer with a minimalist style. You might know him as the founder of the successful template and extensions company Joomla Bamboo. He's also an active voice in the Joomla community. Both on Twitter, as a blogger and lately as a contributor to the Joomla Community Magazine, where he's the Design Studio editor.

security-releaseJust a day after the release of Joomla 1.5.19 with Mootools 1.2.4 support, the Joomla project announced another update: 1.5.20.

Apparently, there were some issues with 1.5.19. These have been adressed in this release.

As 1.5.20 is a security release, upgrade is adviced for all users.
