Here are some interesting Joomla blog posts I found during the last week.
Joomla Day Chile took place last week, and Ryan Ozimek shares his experiences from the event. There is also a post on the road ahead for Joomla 1.6.
And as always, some template news and neat Joomla tips.
Enjoy the read - and have a great week!

On Tuesday, 18 January 2011, for the first time ever from the Joomla Community Livestream channel, a Joomla! Day will be broadcast live. Joomla! Day Chile has requested the ability to provide free access world-wide to the event. Starting at 7am EST and continuing to 4:30pm EST the sold-out crowd will be accessible anywhere in the world!

So we're now about one week into the stable cycle for Joomla! 1.6 and it seems that the biggest question that is on people's minds is upgrading/migration. There is a great deal of interest from people who want to keep their existing sites, but who also want to try out the latest and greatest features that Joomla! 1.6 has to offer.

As you may know, you can set your Joomla site "offline" by setting "Site Offline" to "Yes" in the Global Configuration. This is a great feature that enables you to build or troubleshoot your site in offline mode, restricting access only to backend users who login through the login form displayed on the offline page.
A minor update to the Zen Grid Framework
Written by Anthony Olsen
I've just rolled out a minor update to the Zen Grid Framework which fixes a few things but adds some of the lovely new fonts available via the Google Font directory. I was a little bit skeptical about the range of fonts available when the directory was first rolled out but these new additions certainly provide for quite a range of options that should cover most needs for font replacement.
Cultivate Joomla template release
Written by Anthony Olsen
Once again Im happy to announce the availability of our latest Joomla template. Cultivate is the perfect blend of relaxed professionalism for a slightly left of center Joomla business. The demo content on the live preview is geared towards yoga but it's suitable for all sorts of eco inspired, natural medicine based or relaxed business type websites.

From the highest point in the tallest building in Santiago, Chile, Joomla!Day Chile provided South America's Spanish-speaking community the first Joomla!Day of it's kind on January 18, 2011. With sweeping views of Santiago and the great Andes mountains, Joomla users, developers, and designers from across Chile participated in one of the largest Joomla!Days I've ever attended.
