  • As many betas as it takes to stabilize the stack (I hope not more than 3 or 4)
  • As many betas as it takes to stabilize the stack
  • A couple of Release Candidates

Andrew Eddies Presentation on Joomla 1.6

Andrew Eddie did a presentation on what Joomla 1.6 will mean and how the project is coming along in a meeting at the Joomla User Groups in Brisbane. I won't spend time outlining the features here - check out the video and the presentation notes (PDF) from the video.

You can see the whole presentation here:

Joomla 1.6 Alpha not Official?

Some users have asked whether the previously released Joomla 1.6 Alpha version is an official one or not. The fact that it was not announced on the front page of joomla.org had some people think somthing odd was going on. Relax guys, there's a perfectly good explanation for that. Joomla 1.6 Alpha is a technology preview for developers. The aim of this version is to give developers a head start on the new Joomla so that they may prepare their own products for the release.

Joomla 1.6 Alpha is far from finished, and it's thus not ready for full scale testing. This will happen in august with the release of Joomla 1.6 beta 1.

What's your favorite new feature for Joomla 1.6? What do you miss the most? For me it's definitely ACL!
