- Search the Joomla extensions directory for the keywords related to your need.
- Find an extension which sounds right for you
- Start by checking out when the extension was last updated. This says something about the commitment of the developer.
- Read the user reviews written for the particular extension.
Are they good? Bad? Do they say anytning about the support given by the developer? How about known conflicts with other extensions or common problems? - Visit the developer's website
- Look at any demo pages available to determine how the extension works
- Search the Joomla forum to find any problems experienced by users of the extension
