chat-log-ask-the-joomla-team-1

On April 14th, the Joomla team conducted a chat session on IRC. The purpose of the chat was to give users an opportunity to connect with the Joomla team directly. And to ask questions about, in particular, Joomla 1.6.

Some days ago the team published the chat log from the event at joomla.org. I thought I'd spare you going through the complete log. The chat was hosted by Mark Dexter and Robert Deutz. So read on to get the highlights from the "Ask the Joomla team" chat session. As I see it, at least ;)

Joomla blog posts from around the webHere are some interesting Joomla blog posts I found during week 14.

Brian takes a new shot at the Joomla Supporters Club idea, Alledia has a piece on how to automatically add joomla links to keywords, RocketTheme branches out to other areas (WP) and more.

Enjoy!

joomla-week-13Here are some interesting Joomla blog posts I found during week 13.

I found the post by Brian Teeman about templates for Joomla 1.6 particularly interesting. The sample templates for Joomla 1.5 are quite outdated, and they could be better laid out as to help new users of Joomla understand the CMS better.

Enjoy the read!

Joomla 1.6 beta 1 possible March release

joomla-16-cpanel-illAndrew Eddie, one of the Joomla 1.6 core developers, released a couple of videos yesterday. The videos feature his presentation of the Joomla 1.6 status at the Melbourne JoomlaDay 2010. Among the things he details in the presentation is the finer details of the ACL (Access Control List) system.

At the same time, some (albeit vague) information on the release of Joomla 1.6 beta 1 has been released on the Joomla 1.6 page at Joomla.org.

Tired of waiting for Joomla 1.6?

Joomla 1.6 has been under way for a long time. And it looks like it's going to be a great piece of open source software.

There are some things, though: It takes time. A lot of time. And no one knows when we will see a stable version of Joomla 1.6. At this point, no one even knows when the Joomla 1.6 beta will be available.

So what to do with that new site of yours?

Most popular posts of 2009

In this post, I give you the most popular posts of 2009. This year was my first as a Joomla blogger, and the experience has been great.

I will take the opportunity to thank you who's reading my blog. A special thank you goes to all those who comment on my posts, subscribe to my email list, follow my RSS feed and my Twitter account.

Without you, the time it takes to write this blog wouldn't be worth it. However, getting your positive feedback is a constant inspiration to me. It's what makes me want to write better and more informative posts.

I learn from you, and I hope you take away something of value from my reading my blog as well.

Video: The Joomla 1.6 Admin Menu

I've made a very short video showing the new menu structure of the Joomla 1.6 (Alpha 2) administrator. This menu structure may well be changed in the beta and stable versions, but I wanted to show it anyway.

Joomla 1.6 Alpha 2 Released

joomla-16-cpanel-illGreat news, everyone! The second alpha version of Joomla 1.6 has been released by the project team. And this time, the ACL is in place.

Read on for more about the new features and additions, and what's in store for the beta release.

First, I want to remind you that any alpha or beta release is only meant for evaluation and testing purposes. They should never be used on a live website.
