joomla-1-6-rc1-illToday, the Joomla project announced the immediate availability of Joomla 1.6 RC1 (download).

According to the press release at joomla.org, the team hopes this will be the only release candidate before a stable version. That remains to be seen.

There remains a lot of work before Joomla 1.6 is stable enough for a production site. Read on for more.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is still an evaluation version and is not intended for running a production site.

Joomla Blog Posts from Around the Web (week 48)

joomla-week-48Here are some interesting Joomla blog posts I found during week 48.

Not that many posts this week, but there are still some interesting articles to read.

Brian Teeman talks about Molajo (the upcoming Joomla 1.6 distribution), and Alexred over at ATAAW has discovered the excistence of a military general called Meer Joomla, to mention some of this week's posts.

I'm still waiting for the release of Joomla 1.6 RC1. It was due yesterday, but hasn't been announced yet. I guess the dev team encountered "serious and unanticipated difficulties" ;)

Have a great week!

I'm going to Copenhagen, Denmark - get yourself a free Joomla book

copenhagen-denmark

This week, some of my friends and I are going to Denmark. We’re travelling from Oslo by ferry on Wednesday, spending the night on the boat. Thursday is spent in the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen. Thursday evening will be spent in Helsingør, which is a smaller city a bit north of Copenhagen. On Friday, we'll go back to Copenhagen and stay over until Saturday when we go back to Oslo by plane.

Denmark is a lovely country to spend some relaxing days in. Good food, good beer, nice atmosphere and friendly people. And, most of the time, they understand at least a little bit of what we Norwegians are saying ;)

So why am I telling you this? Well, if you’re a Danish Joomla addict living in Copenhagen, I have a gift for you. It's in celebration of the first Danisk JoomlaDay, and the amazing event they presented.

The first person who contacts me and is able to meet me somewhere centrally located in Copenhagen during Thursday, will get a free Joomla book.
