Last week, the VirtueMart Developer Team has published VirtueMart 1.1.8 to fix a security issue.
All VirtueMart users are urged to upgrade to this new version as soon as possible.
And in case you missed it, there was a release of VirtueMart 2.0 beta2 as well back in February.
Yesterday, Fotis Evangelou of Joomlaworks tweeted a message about their work on a newsletter component for Joomla: Newsletter Designer
However, after seeing all the great extensions created by JoomlaWorks, I'm anxious to see how this will work out. If you don't know JoomlaWorks, you might recognize K2, K2Mart, Frontpage Slideshow and a host of other extensions these guys have made.
The upcoming newsletter component from our Greek friends will include integration with K2, Virtuemart and Joomla, alongside other useful functions.
Today, the VirtueMart Developer Team announced the release of VirtueMart 1.1.6.
As I mentioned in a previous post called What's going on with Virtuemart, it's been a long time since the last update of Virtuemart. Now, version 1.1.6 is here, with around 30 bugs fixed. There are not many features added, but the bug fixing is good to have.
Important: please read on before upgrading or installing!
Virtuemart has been the largest ecommerce solution for Joomla for a number of years. However, the component has started to show signs of age.
The way VirtueMart was built is quite different from how Joomla is put together, and a growing number of users are feeling frustrated about the system.
In this post I take a look at the current state of the VirtueMart project (as I see it), and the future ahead of us. Will VirtueMart keep up?
As a Joomla user, I hope you're familiar with the Content Creation Kit extension K2 from JoomlaWorks. It's a great piece of free software from our Greek friends.
In the beginning of September this year, Joomlaworks released their new component K2Mart. K2mart integrates Virtuemart and K2, allowing you to build your product catalog using K2's advanced content, taxonomy and templating options with Virtuemart's powerful cart and checkout functionality.
This week, version 1.3 of K2 Mart is out, with several exciting new features. Among them, better image handling and a new
The Virtuemart team has released a new version of their free e-commerce solution for Joomla. It's been a long time since the last version was released - back in January 2009.
Version 1.1.14 of VirtueMart is mostly a bug fix release as far as I can see from the change log. One new feature, however, is the support for PHP 5.3.
During the last couple of years, I've created a few Joomla websites with Virtuemart as the e-commerce component. Although I struggled a bit to start with, I think it works fine now. I still find the control panels quite cluttered and not exactly intuitive, though. It took a lot of time to get to know all the quirks and oddities (like links that lead to not-yet implemented features...!). After a while, however, I have come to like VirtueMart, and have managed to set up a few quite successful webshops using it.
One of the things I don't like so much is the lack of themes and templates made for Virtuemart. A few weeks ago I was made aware of Yagendoo, a company specializing in templates and extensions for Joomla.
Every Joomla user has their own favorite extensions. Still, there's a huge selection of extensions available in the Joole Extensions Directory. And the task of finding the perfect one's for you can be a daunting one.
In this article, I tell you which are my favorites, and why they make my life with Joomla so much easier.
